U.K. MIDWEEK CHARTS: DRAKE ON COURSE FOR A DOUBLE #1 (UPDATE)
5/4/16

After topping the U.K. Official Singles Chart for the last three weeks with “One Dance” (Island), Drake is on course for a double whammy on Friday, as Views leads the midweek tally. It's likely to end the week on combined sales of 80k; beating Beyonce's Lemonade (Columbia) by 7k.

is a currently an Apple Music and iTunes exclusive, with physical hitting shelves from Friday. Darcus Beese's Island is forecasting approximately 85-90% digital sales, with 10-15% streaming. The numbers give an interesting insight into the traction of Apple Music overseas, which seems to be on par with Tidal.

A Tidal and iTunes exclusive, Lemonade's first-week sales were made up of around 14% streaming, the rest being iTunes downloads. By way of loose comparison, One Direction topped the Official U.K. chart with Made In The A.M. (SYCO) in November last year notching up 93k sales, 8% of which came from streams (7k) across all digital platforms, including Spotify.

Rihanna’s “This is What You Came For” (Columbia) is, as expected, the hottest new single, but isn't yet reaching #1 thanks to Drake's “One Dance," which claimed the highest number of streams of a single in a week ever on Friday with 7.86m - beating Adele’s record of 7.32m with “Hello” (XL). Drake's track had notched up 64k combined chart sales from Friday to close of play Monday, ahead of Harris and Ri Ri’s second collaboration.
