Republic and RCA Reign at Rhythm Radio; Rihanna Surprises Listeners With New Single

The game of leapfrog between Republic and RCA continues this week, as Chris Brown & Tyga’s “Ayo” (RCA) hops over Nicki Minaj f/Drake & Lil Wayne’s “Truffle Butter” (YMCMB/Republic). Strazza, Inca and Lori G also have Kid Ink f/Chris Brown’s “Hotel” moving into the Top 15 this week. Tinashe f/Iggy Azalea’s “All Hands on Deck” climbs #27-23 this week, gaining 140 spins. RCA has a number of new releases set for the next month, including tracks from CB & Tyga, Mark Ronson, Martin Garrix and Jamie Foxx.

The reign at the top will likely be short lived, however, as (guess who… that’s right) Republic will take the top slot next week with Natalie La Rose f/Jeremih’s “Somebody.” The record’s already hot on the heels and should pass by Wednesday. Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole also have The Weeknd’s “Earned It” shooting up the Top 5, moving #7-4. It was up 770 spins, good enough to be the #1 Greatest Gainer. Ariana Grande’s “One Last Time” slides up to #11, picking up 340 spins. Kalin & Myles’ “Trampoline” bounces to #18, while Nick Jonas’ “Chains” (Island) vaults inside the Top 25, gaining 325 spins. Taylor Swift’s “Style” (Big Machine) comes in at #32, and Tove Lo’s “Talking Body” (Island) moves to #52. They’re impacting Charles Hamilton’s “New York Raining” this week, which features Rita Ora. In case you didn’t already know, it’s off the Empire soundtrack. Both the television show and the sales have been very impressive, as the finale drew in an estimated 20m viewers.

There’s another track impacting this week from that same soundtrack, and it’s from Team Columbia. Ayelet Schiffman and James White have been setting up Empire Cast f/Jessie Smollett & Yazz’s “You’re So Beautiful” for a few weeks now. They also have T.I. f/Chris Brown’s “Private Show” at #30, gaining 185 spins. Snoop Dogg’s “Peaches N Cream” is this week’s biggest debut record, appearing at #33; it was up 410 spins. TK & Cash’s “Mind Right” sits at #39. Next week, Ayelet and James will impact Dillon Francis & DJ Snake’s “Get Low,” from the Furious 7 soundtrack. The sales on this single have steadily increased, and the spot in which this plays should really help its profile. As you know, this is the last movie Paul Walker was in before he passed away. On another note, be ready for J. Cole’s “Wet Dreamz,” which will be his next single and is set to impact in two weeks.

Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness at Def Jam have things going full tilt since they dropped a new Rihanna out of the sky this past Thursday. In just three short days, “BBHMM” (Bitch Better Have My Money) was up over 415 spins. There’s a tremendous buzz surrounding this one. Big Sean f/Drake & Kanye’s “Blessings” hit #13, up 210 spins. Right behind is Kanye f/T. London’s “All Day,” which climbs to #14, up 410 spins. Ludacris f/Miguel’s “Good Lovin” was up triple-digits again and held at #17.

(L-R: Sackheim, Sheer, YG, Chester, Rothschild, Farag)

Epic and Sujit Kundu have Ciara’s “I Bet” at #34, Fifth Harmony f/Kid Ink’s “Worth It” (SYCO) at #35, increasing 135 spins, and Jidenna’s “Classic Man” at #42, up 120 spins. They also have Future’s “Commas” at #48, and it’s already Top 20 at Urban.

Lee L’Heureux and Warner Bros. have Jason Derulo’s “Want to Want Me” (Beluga Heights) leaping #23-16 and tacking on 570 spins. This is showing all the signs of a typical Derulo track and doesn’t look to be slowing down at all.

Bob Weil and RAL continue to plug away with Jordin Sparks f/2 Chainz’s “Double Tap,” which continues to build, is at #43 this week and up 50 spins.
