CROSSOVER
THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing MLK Jr. Day. Dr. King’s words and actions sure would be a welcome addition to today’s society, as it seems there is less and less love and respect going around.

There is, however, love from radio for Drake. His current single “Fake Love” (YMCMB) is #1 this week, up 575 spins. Republic’s Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole also have Amine’s “Caroline” moving #5-4, adding an additional 130 spins. They also welcome The Weeknd f/Daft Punk’s “I Feel It Coming” (XO) into the top 10, thanks to a gain of 545 spins. His other track, “Party Monster,” is up a whopping 550 spins. It moves #17-13. ZAYN/Taylor Swift’s “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” (UStudios/BMR/ RCA) continues to develop, as it sees another 160 spins tacked on its total. The crew also debuts Ariana Grande f/Future’s “Everyday” at #35. I suppose a gain of 550 spins will do that. They are impacting Sean Paul f/Dua Lipa’s “No Lie” this week.

Def Jam’s Rick Sackheim and Noah Sheer take Rihanna “Love On The Brain” (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) inside The top 5 this week. It was up 270 spins. Big Sean’s “Bounce Back” (GOOD) moves #10-8, gaining another 390 spins. Rihanna’s “Sex With Me” (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) is a record that just won’t go away. It is at #32, up 115 spins. Big Sean also has a new track, titled “Moves”; this one is at #53 after just one week, up 140 spins.

Team Epic and Sujit Kundu have 21 Savage & Metro Boomin f/Future’s “X” at #24, posting a 25 spin jump. Travis Scott’s “Goosebumps” (Grand Hustle) is starting to hit its stride, as it sees a 260 spin increase, moving to #27. Future f/Drake’s “Used To This” holds at #29, gaining 70 spins. DJ Esco’s “Too Much Sauce” is just getting started.

Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White see Beyonce’s “All Night” at #21, up a healthy 150 spins. They also impact a new Chainsmokers single “Paris” (Disruptor). It was up 135 spins in just two full days, and should debut this coming week. iTunes sales are already at #2, and it is Shazaming where it is getting played. This looks like another power rotation record for the guys. Aye and James are impacting Russ’ “Losin’ Control” next week.

RCA’s Inca and Lori G see Chris Brown f/Usher and Gucci Mane’s “Party” explode on the scene. It is up 645 spins this week, and is already inside the top 25. They have a double debut this week, as Khalid’s “Location” lands on the chart at #34, up 160 spins, and G-Eazy’s “Some Kind Of Drug” comes in at #38, where it was up 170 spins. They are beginning to set up Luke Christopher’s “Lot To Learn.”

Greg Marella and Dixie Tipton at Capitol are on a mission to get Trey Songz’ “Push It On Me” top 10. It moves to #11, gaining 160 spins this week.

Have you listened to Childish Gambino’s “Redbone” (Glassnote) yet? It is starting to make its way up the chart. It is Shazaming and selling in markets it is being played, at both Urbans and Urban A/Cs. His popularity is growing, as he won Golden Globes for his show Atlanta, and he is in the upcoming Spiderman and Star Wars films.
