WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN NASHVILLE IN RECENT YEARS, AND HOW ARE YOU ADDRESSING IT?
The most dramatic change I have observed during my 30 years in the Nashville industry has been the decline of the number of full-time songwriters. Among a wide array of artist and industry-relations initiatives, the Academy has been, and will continue to be, committed to supporting Nashville’s songwriting and publishing community—not only with recognition through our awards process, but also through supporting and presenting events that demonstrate the value and importance of Nashville’s songwriting and publishing community.
