HOLLY DECKS THE HALLS
7/18/18

HITS team member and acclaimed book editor Holly Gleason will visit her hometown of Cleveland as she heads to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with Woman Walk the Line: How the Women of Country Music Changed Our Lives—one of the Rock Hall's 2018 Author’s Series Selections.

On 7/21, the org will kick off its Women in Country Music Day with a 3pm panel, which will feature an interview with Rock Hall member Wanda Jackson. Moderated by Gleason, the panel will feature several of the book’s contributors, including Jackson, Aubrie Sellers (Alison Krauss), former CREEM editor Deborah Sprague (Rosanne Cash) and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Director of Artist Relations Shelby Morrison (Barbara Mandrell).

And on 8/4, she'll hit the Country Music Hall of Fame for a panel that should occur in conjunction with the Country Hall’s Loretta Lynn: Blue Kentucky Girl exhibition. There, Gleason will meet with Brenda Lee—the subject of an essay by 17-year old Taylor Swift—and Jeannie Seely, as well as Sellers and another one of country music’s next wave of female artists Ashley Monroe. They'll discuss Loretta Lynn’s impact, and of course the power of women’s voices in today's country music.

“With everything that’s happened with this book,” shares Gleason, “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the Belmont Book Award – or so many people’s interest in the way these 27 female country stars literally changed my contributors' lives in often palpable ways. To be part of these kinds of discussions is everything Woman Walk The Line is about.”

Book signings will follow each event, so get 'em while they're hot. And don't let the affiliation with HITS fool you. Holly's way cooler than us.
