RHINO GOES HOG WILD FOR RSD 2018

Rhino is tagging its Record Store Day 2018 offerings as its most ambitious collection of vinyl yet and parent company Warner Music is rolling out buses in New York and Berlin to get vinyl addicts into stores and a little drunk.

Warner Music Group’s third annual Record Store Crawls start on Record Store Day—4/21—in New York City and Berlin with another 13 crawls taking place throughout the year. L.A.’s crawl takes place 7/21 and Nashville on 8/4; attendees will be among the first to have access to the limited-edition releases, which will hit shelves at indie retailers across the U.S. during each crawl. (You don’t actually crawl—a bus filled with alcohol and food takes people from store to store).

Rhino is offering 30 titles this year including three from David Bowie, two from Twin Peaks and a couple of Madonnas. Here’s what they’ve got:

LPs: Bowie’s Bowie Now on 12-inch white vinyl; Fleetwood Mac’s Tango In The Night Alternate; Hawkwind’s Dark Matter (The Alternative Liberty / U.A. Years 1970 -1974) (2-LP); Lou Reed’s Animal Serenade (3-LP); Madonna’s You Can Dance; The Stooges’ The Stooges (The Detroit Edition); THE STREETS Remixes & B-Sides; Van Morrison’s The Alternative Moondance; Prince’s 1999; Ramones Sundragon Sessions; and Whitesnake (30th Anniversary Edition).

New live albums: Bowie’s Welcome To The Blackout (Live London '78) (3-LP); The Doors’ Live At The Matrix Part 2: Let's Feed Ice Cream To The Rats, San Francisco, CA - March 7 & 10, 1967; Grateful Dead’s Fillmore West, San Francisco, CA 2/27/69 (4-LP); and Wilco’s Live At The Troubadour 11/12/96.
