Leslie Odom Jr. has dropped a new ballad, “What Are We Waiting For,” (S-Curve/BMG) on which he’s joined by his wife, actress Nicolette Robinson. It’s the first taste of his forthcoming album, arriving this fall.
“Nic and I have sung this song in concert together for years—most recently for the filming of my Live From Lincoln Center show for PBS,” Odom notes. “We love the tune and we love singing it together. The song means a lot to us.”
The single arrives two months after the publication of Odom’s book, Failing Up: How to Rise Above, Do Better, and Never Stop Learning, on Macmillan imprint Feiwel & Friends. He’s also been doing lots of episodic TV, including a recurring role in Law & Order: SVU.
Odom completed his run as the original Aaron Burr in the transformative hit show Hamilton in 2016, which accounts for the Tony and Grammy on his mantelpiece.
