PANDORA SNAPS INTO NEW ALLIANCE

Pandora is partnering with Snap on Snap Kit, a platform that will allow Pandora listeners to send songs to friends and family via song cards. The move got Wall Street humming.

The integration is designed to expand Pandora’s social sharing capabilities and positions it within Snapchat’s platform. The cards celebrate album art on top of an animated background and direct recipients to Pandora.

“This will be a powerful and comprehensive social integration with music,” said Chris Phillips, Chief Product Officer, Pandora. “The Snapchat product experience and user base are primed for sharing, and our collaboration will provide a creative and compelling way to discover and enjoy music in a way that's intuitive to Snapchatters."

After the announcement was made, Pandora stock was up about 3%, rising above $8 a share while Snap was up 2% to almost $14.

Neither company gave an exact date for the service to launch, saying only that the new alliance will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

"With their vast music library, Pandora's partnership with Snap Kit will help us make it easier and more fun for Snapchatters to share the music they love."
