6IX9INE CREATES
A PUB DEAL

Create Music Group has signed scalding hot rapper 6ix9ine to its newly formed music publishing division, Create Music Group Publishing, in what’s described as a multimillion-dollar worldwide agreement.

The deal comes on the heels of “FEFE” (10K Projects/Capitol), his smash with Nicki Minaj, and just days after the release of his first Spanish-language track, “BEBE,” featuring Puerto Rican star Anuel AA.

The newco has also announced long-term publishing deals with C4, who’s worked with Gucci Mane, Young Thug, Waka Flocka, Lil’ Wayne and Migos; and GooseTheGuru, who contributed to Trippie Redd’s 2018 album and has worked with developing artists Lil Skies and PnB Rock; as well as pop producer CESAR.

Said Create CEO Jonathan Strauss (above, left), “We have been extremely successful over the last three years helping some of the world’s most innovative and exciting artists monetize their content and grow their brands, something that our artists say we do better than anyone else. By launching our music publishing division, we will be extending our services to some of our most important clients and work with them in growing areas of their business. 6ix9ine has changed the music landscape—he is breaking boundaries like no one else and is without a doubt the most exciting new artist of the year. We are looking forward to working with him and his team for many years to come.”

“Jonathan and his team at Create Music Group are a next-generation music and publishing company, and Tekashi 6ix9ine is a next-generation artist,” said Bob Celestin, 6ix9ine’s attorney. “Create is setting a new standard for maximizing music publishing revenues for artists in a way that is innovative, completely transparent and highly efficient. All of these reasons and more is why 6ix9ine made a decision to sign a music publishing deal with Create.”

Launched in 2015 by Strauss and co-founder Alexandre Williams (above, right), Create Music Group got started by providing rights-management services for artists including Marshmello, Future, Lil Yachty, Wiz Khalifa, Trippie Redd and Post Malone. Create acquired distribution company Label Engine in 2016 and currently administers publishing for hundreds of artists and on average monetizes more than 6 billion streams per month.
