SONY UPS TWO INTERNATIONAL EXECS

Sony Music labels have new SVPs of International Marketing: Monica Cornia and Melissa Thomas. Cornia moves up at RCA and adds Arista to her purview; Thomas, an Epic exec, adds Columbia.

Based in New York, Cornia and Thomas will be responsible for developing and executing international marketing campaigns for artists signed to Sony Music in the U.S., and enhancing the market presence of Sony Music’s U.S. artists in other countries around the world. Together they will oversee the International Marketing team based in New York and London, with a focus on Promotion, International Digital Marketing and Sales.

As Vice President, International Marketing for RCA Records, Cornia spearheaded global campaigns for artists such as Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and ZAYN. She began her career at Sanctuary Group before joining RCA Music Group’s International Department in 2005, transitioning to artist management to work with Kesha at Vector before joining RCA in 2014.

At Epic, Thomas oversaw the global team that broke Fifth Harmony, Meghan Trainor, DJ Khaled, Future and others. She also simultaneously has led Sony Music’s International Urban team. Thomas joined Sony Music in London, moving to New York eight years later. She previously worked for Universal Motown Records and Universal Music Canada.

Cornia said, “I am tremendously excited to expand my role to partner with Arista, and for the chance to lead the next chapter of this extraordinary team together with Melissa as we continue to develop global artists and create world class campaigns.”

Thomas added, “The passion from the senior leadership teams at Columbia and Epic is an inspiration, and I look forward to continued partnership with them. I am thrilled to be working with Monica to lead the tremendous team we have in place as we continue to elevate our artist campaigns and push boundaries to break artists around the world.”
