J. COLE ACTIVATES FOUNDATION TO HELP HURRICANE FLORENCE VICTIMS IN NC

Earlier this month, J. Cole was readying the first annual Dreamville Festival, to be held in Raleigh, NC along with guest stars SZA and Young Thug. But the approaching Hurricane Florence forced the cancellation of the event.

Now the superstar’s nonprofit The Dreamville Foundation is getting actively involved in helping those affected by the devastation Hurricane Florence has caused in North Carolina and the artist’s hometown of Fayetteville.

Currently more than 19,000 people are displaced from their homes and staying in shelters while 90,000 remain without power. It’s estimated that more than 30 inches of rain fell on the region. Property damage is expected to exceed $22 billion.

“The Dreamville Foundation is looking to lend a helping hand to the community, children, and families affected by Hurricane Florence,” a statement on the home page of the website reads, “there will be hot food stations placed throughout the city, temporary housing options for families, and stocking of food pantries/shelters. As well as supporting other local non profits who help provide services for the people in Fayetteville.

Fans are encouraged to donate in increments of $10, $25, $50 or a more generous amount of their choosing.

Cole has long been a pillar of his community, he started this Foundation back in 2011 with "a mission is to inspire, empower and encourage the urban youth."
