The Riverside County Office of Education, Public Allies, The National Association for Urban Debate Leagues and the Girl Scouts are among the local and community organizations that will receive free admission to Michelle Obama’s book tour. The Live Nation-produced tour stops at The Forum on 11/15.
The tour for Becoming: An Intimate Conversation With Michelle Obama. kicks off 11/13 in Chicago and wraps 12/19 in Brooklyn. Ten percent of all tickets are going to community groups in each city.
“It was important to me that all sorts of people could come to the tour events, not just those with means or who happened to be by a computer when the tickets went on sale,” the former First Lady said. “That’s why we are giving away thousands of tickets to people around the country, particularly to young people striving to be their best. I want them to see themselves in my story—to see the value in the fullness of their lives and to imagine who they might become in the years ahead.”
Among the community organizations receiving complimentary tickets are CRED (Creating Real Economic Destiny) and Bottom Line in Chicago, and The Lower Eastside Girls Club and Democracy Prep Public Schools in New York.
