SOUNDCLOUD MAKES
IT RAIN WITH ELLIS

SoundCloud has tapped former Sony exec Lisa Ellis as global head of music and artist relations, reporting to CEO Kerry Trainor.

Ellis will working with artists, labels, managers and others to help them benefit from the platform and its offerings as the leader of the artist and label services team.

The Maryland native, who began her career at Pepsi, spent 14 years at Sony, serving in key posts at Columbia (bringing Prince back to the label) and Epic, focusing on digital, licensing and other frontiers, serving as the group's President of Urban Music and ascending to EVP before leaving in 2009 for the financial world. She most recently served at Provenance Ventures and will carry on in an advisory capacity for that firm, a holding company for Provenance Media and Provenance Films.

Ellis has received numerous awards and plaudits during her career, including the Radio Music Award and honors from Black Enterprise, Ebony and Fast Company, among others. She's also an accomplished equestrian and has served on the Council on Foreign Relations. All of which makes us realize how little we get done in a day.
