“PATIENCE” REWARDED

Tame Impala
has dropped a new track ahead of the band’s 3/30 SNL appearance and Coachella headlining slot in April. On “Patience” (Interscope)—the first piece of music we’ve heard from Kevin Parker since his astounding 2015 album, Currents—he delves into his Philly soul influences, seasoned with a dollop of Barry White: ringing piano in the foreground, funky-regal drums and percussion setting the groove, along with one of his signature burbling basslines, and his multitracked vocals soaring overhead, throwing off vapor trails. It’s the first tangible clue as to the nature of the follow-up to Currents. We’re psyched.
