U.K. MIDWEEKS: ABBA SAILING TO #1

ABBA will claim their 10th #1 on the U.K. Official Albums Chart on Friday with Voyage (Polar) already scoring 118k sales. Over on singles, Ed Sheeran and Adele are competing for the top spot.

Voyage is currently outselling the rest of the Top 40 combined and is on its way to becoming the fastest-selling album of the year. If the set manages to beat Sheeran’s first-week sales of 139k for (Atlantic), ABBA will score the biggest opening week for an album in more than four years.

= is #2 today, while Radiohead’s Kid A Mnesia (XL) eyes a #3 debut.

James Arthur is at #4 with It’ll All Make Sense in the End (Columbia) and Summer Walker’s Still Over It (LVRN/Interscope) starts at #5. Diana RossThank You (Decca) is also new at #6.

Gregory Porter’s greatest hits, Still Rising - The Collection (Decca), is at #7 midweek, followed by Bullet For My Valentine’s self-titled seventh album on Spinefarm at #8. Lana Del Rey’s Blue Banisters (Polydor) could climb 11 places to #10 following a new vinyl release.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles midweeks, Sheeran’s “Shivers” sits at #1, but Adele’s “Easy On Me” (Columbia) is just 500 sales behind.
