U.K. PUBLISHING ACT TO WATCH: DYLAN

Pop singer and songwriter Dylan released her debut mixtape, The Greatest Thing I’ll Never Learn, on Island Records earlier in November. It hit #19 on the U.K. albums chart and shifted 3.8k+ units in its first week. She’s earned praise from Notion, The Line of Best Fit, Spotify and BBC Introducing, and secured tour support slots with Yungblud, Bastille, Ed Sheeran and Tate McRae. Dylan signed to Sony Music Publishing after U.K. co-MD Tim Major caught her set at the Lock Tavern in Camden.

“I was actually there to see the support act but decided to stick around to see her set, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” Major remembers. “She came out and performed to that small room like it was a stadium. Her energy and attitude just grabbed me instantly.”

Major describes Dylan as having the “heart of a rock star: the swagger, the attitude, the energy.” He says: “She’s fun, engaging and passionate and has tremendous drive and ambition. And she has managed to bring all of this out in her music and performances. Most importantly, she has that unrelenting work ethic that you see in the most successful artists. She really deserves everything that’s happening.”

Over the last three years, Dylan has been working on honing her sound—a combination of frank and personal lyrics, pop melodies and the classic rock her dad introduced her to when she was growing up. The ultimate goal, says Major, is world domination. “But first to continue the momentum with more music and working towards her first album. Next year feels very important and exciting for Dylan,” he concludes.
