U.K. AGENCY ACT TO WATCH: SWITCHOTR (UTA)
12/7/22

Rapper, singer and songwriter SwitchOTR scored a Top 5 hit in the U.K. toward the end of last year with “Coming for You” f/A1 and J1. The track, powered by TikTok and Instagram, has since racked up 124m+ streams on Spotify alone. Since then, he’s toured overseas and had major festival plays, including a spot at Reading and Leeds. As his agent at UTA, Max Lee, points out, this is all before the release of his first album.

Alongside fellow agent Myles Jessop, Lee emerged victorious in a competitive signing battle for SwitchOTR thanks to a relationship with his manager. The artist is signed to Sony label Robots & Humans. What makes him special? “Switch is a captivating and energetic performer, even at such an early stage of his career,” Lee says. “His catchy hooks are memorable and easy to sing along to. He doesn’t take himself too seriously and has a lot of fun onstage, which is definitely reciprocated by the crowd.”

SwitchOTR was raised in Croydon, where he shared teachers with British rap superstar Stormzy, and has Ghanaian roots. His powerful lyrics address his personal journey, and he has ambitions to compete on a global level with the likes of Drake. His latest single, “Gone” f/John Newman, arrived in September. Next year, Lee will be focused on upping his ticket sales, leading into a strong festival run. “We will also be venturing further into Europe and Australia/New Zealand, bringing his sound to a wider audience,” he adds.
