The Academy of Country Music hosted its 14th annual ACM Honors on Wednesday night (8/26) at the Ryman Auditorium, recognizing special award honorees as well as Industry and Studio Recording Award winners.
ACM CEO Damon Whiteside kicked off the event before two-time ACM Award winner and the evening’s host Carly Pearce gave a performance of “Dear Miss Loretta,” in honor of Loretta Lynn’s Poet’s Award.
Among the performances, Trace Adkins sang “Love Me If You Can” in tribute to Toby Keith, who received the Merle Haggard Spirit Award, and Ashley McBryde performed “Girl Goin’ Nowhere” in memory of ACM SVP Lisa Lee to honor her 15-year legacy at the Academy as well as “She Got the Best of Me” in honor of Luke Combs’ Gene Weed Milestone Award
Rascal Flatts were given tribute by Pearce, Caylee Hammack and RaeLynn, who sang “Bless the Broken Road,” “My Wish” and “Life is a Highway,” respectively, for the bands’ Cliffie Stone Icon Award; Lady A and Ross Copperman were awarded with the Gary Haber Lifting Lives Award, which Lady A accepted with a performance of “What A Song Can Do” while Keith Urban recognized Copperman with a performance of his own “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16,” which Copperman co-wrote.Other performers included Lauren Alaina, Devin Dawson, Jessie Jo Dillon, Ronnie Dunn, Nicolle Galyon, HARDY, Alan Jackson, Chris Janson, Lady A, Jordan Reynolds, Brittney Spencer, Keith Urban, Laura Veltz,Sam Williams and Lee Ann Womack.
Special Awards were also given to Joe Galante, Michael Strickland, Dan + Shay, RAC Clark, Gretchen Peters, Curly Putman, Ken Burns and more.
Chris Janson also presented the 55th ACM Industry Awards and 55th & 56th Studio Recording Awards for the evening, which included 2019 and 2020’s ACM Songwriter of the Year winner, Hillary Lindsey. Additional special guest presenters included CMA CEO Sarah Trahern.
For fans who missed the livestream, the show will air live on Circle TV on Tuesday (11/23) at 8pm ET with encore on 11/24 at 12am ET. The evening was executive produced by Whiteside, co-produced by Ben Roy and written by ACM’s Libby Gardner.
