CHESNEY GEARS UP FOR EARTH WEEK
4/18/22

With Kenny Chesney’s Here and Now 2022 tour kicking off at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on 4/23, No Shoes Reefs is gearing up to celebrate the country star’s return by teaming with Tampa Bay Watch for five days of Earth Week activities.

"When you can work with local groups, they understand their needs, their issues – and by supporting them, we can help them take care of their oceanfront in ways that make sense," said Chesney. "But being able to be part of something so all-encompassing in Tampa as we’re starting to get back to bringing No Shoes Nation together is the perfect thing to kick off a tour.”

The week’s activities are part of a culmination activation with Living Shoreline Project, which includes building Reef Balls that will then be filled with harvested sea grass to be deployed on Earth Day (4/22), as well as planting Saltmarsh Grass to prevent further erosion and rebuilding shoreline that’s been lost since the ‘50s.

To mark the occasion, a sea grass green t-shirt—each made from five repurposed plastic bottles—will be available to support the alliance here.
