TUPAC MUSEUM EXPERIENCE LAUNCHES IN L.A. IN JANUARY
The estate of Tupac Shakur has announced the world premiere of Tupac Shakur: Wake Me When I'm Free, an immersive museum experience exploring the life and legacy of the artist and activist. The world tour kicks off 1/21 at The Canvas @ L.A. Live.
Produced in partnership with Round Room Live, CAA, UMG and Kinfolk Management + Media, Wake Me When I'm Free is slated to visit select American and international locales over the next few years. Presale "front-of-line" tickets go on sale next week.
The spirit of Afeni Shakur, who played an influential role in her son's life, permeates WMWIF. Said Jamal Joseph, Shakur's godfather and a special advisor to the estate, “Afeni was the baddest Black woman to walk the planet. She shifted the atmosphere and raised awareness wherever she went.”
Additional design support for the production is being provided by Perkins&Will and Ralph Appelbaum Associates—leading architectural and exhibit-design firms who also collaborated on the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. RAA is also the exhibit designer for the forthcoming Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.
