PULSE WELCOMES STARGATE INTO ITS ORBIT
5/10/23

PULSE Music Group Co-CEOs Josh Abraham and Scott Cutler and President/Head of Creative Ashley Calhoun have announced a JV with Grammy-winning production duo Stargate.

Comprisedof Mikkel Eriksen and Tor E. Hermansen (Tor), Stargate has produced or written for Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson, Sam Smith and a slew of others.

The duo's first #1 was Ne-Yo’s “So Sick,” and they’ve notched another nine chart-toppers since. Other such hits include Beyoncé's “Irreplaceable,” which lived atop the Hot 100 for 10 consecutive weeks, and Katy Perry's diamond "Firework." Stargate has also written and produced four consecutive #1 singles for Rihanna.

In 2021, Eriksen and Hermansen launched the Los Angeles Academy for Artists and Music Production (LAAMP), an intensive program for songwriters, artists and producers. Based in Santa Monica, it boasts mentors Ne-Yo, Diplo, Benny Blanco and Emily Warren, among others.

Under the new JV with PULSE, the companies will form LAAMP Music, led by creative executive Andy Steinway. Its first signings are Natalię Sawicki, Kyla McMillian, Hunter Nay and Lucas Goncalves.

“Investing in the future has long been a winning recipe in music,” Hermansen noted. “LAAMP was founded to help young creators take their music to the next level, which is exactly what PULSE Music Group has been doing for their songwriters for years. Andy, Mikkel and I are excited to partner with Scott, Josh, Ashley and the whole PULSE Music Group team to create opportunities for a whole new wave of talent.”

In other PULSE news, the Silver Lake enterprise picked up Song of the Year honors at 5/9's BMI Pop Awards for the #1 monster “Stay” by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber via client FNZ aka producer-writer team Michael "Finatik" Mule and Isaac "Zac" De Boni, whose discography also includes songs on #1 albums by Kanye West, Pop Smoke and A$AP Rocky.

Team PULSE is currently celebrating all this success with chia seed-infused smoothies, fauxnuts and matcha-flavored kale chips, because they're feeling especially wild.
