DROPPING THE NEEDLE ON SEE YOU NEXT YEAR 2

Last year, Pigeons & Planes, the indie- and hip-hop-focused website from Complex magazine, issued its first compilation album, the ADA-distribbed Pigeons & Planes Presents: See You Next Year, which was exec-produced by Mike Dean and featured Teezo Touchdown, among others. Like all good things, including Die Hard and Bat Out of Hell, it earned a sequel.

See You Next Year 2 was recorded over an eight-day period at super-producer Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La studio in Malibu, California. Pigeons & Planes made the album in partnership with indie label Big.Ass.Kids.; ADA is once again the distributor. The digital version dropped on 4/5, and you can now pre-order a vinyl copy.

The track list includes songs from Atlanta rapper Kenny Mason, British rapper skaiwater (who recently dropped a new single with rapper and Met Gala attendee Lil Nas X, the first feature of his career), Chicago rap producer and Coldplay fan Monte Booker and the underground hip-hop duo Paris Texas, who are from Oakland, which we admit confuses us. They apparently have a fan in Kanye West, based on an Instagram video he posted which features the rocked-up Paris Texas song “Girls Like Drugs.”

We like drugs too, but mostly Zantac.
