TROPICAL TECH
2/15/16

Bob Marley might not be a name you associate with tech, but House of Marley has developed a line of impressive new audio products with an ecological spin the late legend would surely have appreciated. Made with partially recycled materials, the speaker and ear buds we checked out pass muster with both gorgeous sound and Island style.

We were particularly impressed with the Marley Chant Sport, the water-resistant Bluetooth speaker designed to float. Shaped to fit in a vehicle’s cupholder, the Chant has a microphone so you can use it for hands free phone chat. But its primary virtue is its wireless sound, which is both crystalline and deep, with tons of presence and a gorgeous bass response. You can pick it up via the House of Marley site or on Amazon or Kohl’s, for around $120; an XL version with additional controls costs a bit more.

The “earth-friendly” and bargain-priced (around $20) Smile Jamaica in-ear headphones use wood and aluminum to excellent sonic effect, with allegedly tangle-free cords from durable materials. There’s a mic control to let you pause and play the music and take calls

If you’ve just gotta hear Rastaman Vibration, this is the gear for it to vibrate on.

We're hoping the House of Marley will send us some custom weed as well.
