ILEY EXPECTED TO HEAD SONY U.K.

Look for Jason Iley to be named the new CEO of Sony Music U.K., stepping in for former head Nick Gatfield.

Iley was most recently President of Roc Nation Records; label head Jay Z, with whom he worked closely for years at Mercury U.K., brought Iley to New York to run the company. During his tenure at Roc Nation, Iley oversaw records by Jay Z, J. Cole, Rita Ora and Jay Electronica, among others.

Now Iley’s Carter Family relationships will be extended—Beyoncé will be under his purview at Sony.

Prior to his tenure at Roc Nation, he spent 15 years at Universal U.K., including stints at Polydor and Island (where he helped launch the career of Amy Winehouse and worked on several U2 album campaigns) and as President of Mercury U.K.

In the latter post he worked with Elton John, Paul McCartney, Jay Z, Kanye West, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Bon Jovi and Metallica, among other acts. He persuaded U2 to move to Mercury in 2007, ending the band’s 27-year tenure at Island.
