FARM AID PLOWS ALONG

CSNY, Barenaked Ladies, Travis Tritt, Others To Join Founders Nelson, Young, Mellencamp
The lineup for Farm Aid's 15th anniversary is coming together, and founders Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp will be joined this year by a plethora of artists from all musical genres.

So far, acts such as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Barenaked Ladies, Travis Tritt, Arlo Guthrie, North Mississippi Allstars, Shannon Curfman and Jimmy Sturr have been confirmed for the annual benefit's running, according to Pollstar.

This year, the concert will take place Sept. 17 at the Nissan Pavilion outside Washington, DC.

Tickets for the all-day festival go on sale Aug. 4, and include a limited number of "Corn Belt" seats priced at $65.

CMT will telecast a portion of the concert as an eight-hour special on Sept. 17.

In addition to the concert, a commemorative CD of Farm Aid highlights from the past 15 years is in production and is expected to be released Sept. 12.

While the jaded continue to ask why this event is still staged, an insider offered, "What the hell is HITS still doing around after 14 years? That's the real question. At least Farm Aid is for a good cause."

Our own goggled hick Murphy has yet to miss a Farm Aid performance. "Thank god they still offer them there Corn Belt seat thangs," Hitsdailydouble's mascot said. "Those seats are so dang close, you can catch the tabbaca in yer mouth when it's spit from the stage. I already gots chew from Mellencamp and Nelson from previous shows. This year, I'ma gunnin' for a big ol' wad of Young's Skoal."
