JEWEL NOT INTO THE RING

Cell Phone Call Sends Singer Into “Mania”-Induced Mania
At the unveiling of Giorgio Armani’s new scent "Mania" at the Ace Gallery in New York last Wednesday, Atlantic Records artist Jewel performed a private concert for the guests. During the middle of a ballad, a cell phone went off--and so did the singer.

Jewel stopped and demanded to know whose phone it was. The culprit raised his hand, and Jewel demanded his name. It was Jack Lynch, publisher of Quest magazine.

"Everyone, this is Jack Lynch and (because of him) I can’t finish playing this song," she huffed.

In true rock-star fashion, Jewel then went on a violent rampage, throwing a plastic cup filled with Chardonnay and carelessly dropping a crab puff onto the gallery’s carpet. Exhausted, she then collapsed in a corner and wept.

"You’ll all be sorry," said Jewel as she stormed out, "when I turn this episode into a scathing—yet affirming and uplifting—poem."
