Management, marketing and commercial endorsement agency Worldwide Entertainment & Sports has appointed former Madison Square Garden President/CEO Robert M. Gutkowski President/CEO and upped one-time EMI Records Group N.A. Chairman/CEO Charles Koppelman to Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Commented Koppelman: "We are very excited to have Bob join our company. Members of the Board began conversations with Bob serveral months ago regarding his potential involvement. He is the perfect choice for this position."
The company just completed raising more than $5.5 million in equity financing.
Added Gutkowski, who also founded The Marquee Group, a sports and entertainment company which acquired several properties, including Tollin-Robbins, Alphabet City Records and Pro Serv, before being sold to SFX Entertainment last year for more than $100 million: "With our collective backgrounds and successful histories of building new businesses, we will placeour emphasis on developing both online and offline sports, music and entertainment properties. And smoke a helluva lot of Cohibas."
The company plans to produce a new look, new name and new logo for the company.
Worldwide Entertainment & Sports reently acquired the Houseofboxing.comand Sportscut.com sports content Web sites and representes such athletes as football stars Antonio Freeman, O.J. McDuffie and Curtis Enis, boxers Robert Davis and Shannon Briggs and several race teams, race-car drivers and motorsports sponsors.
