VICTORY FOR ANTHONY IN MANAGER DEBACLE

$3 Million Defamation Suit Dismissed
By NY Supreme Court
Latin crooner Marc Anthony and his manager, Jerry Shustek, are celebrating this week.

The Supreme Court of New York, the New York Daily News reports, dismissed a $3 million defamation lawsuit filed by the singer’s former manager, Ralph Mercado.

Mercado claimed that Shustek besmirched his reputation when he described him as "the Morris Levy of the Latin world" in a New York Times Magazine story about the Latin music scene.

Levy, the article mentioned, was known as someone who did business with organized crime and was eventually convicted of conspiracy to commit extortion.

Judge Jane S. Solomon ruled in favor of Shustek, who was repped by Steven Hayes of Parcher, Hayes & Snyder. No word yet on whether Mercado, who has had a long legal battle with Anthony, will appeal.
