Supremes "Return To Love" Tour
Returned To Sender
Baby, baby, where did our tour go?

The jokes write themselves, as Diana Ross and this year's model of the Supremes canceled the remaining dates of their "Return to Love" tour due to paltry ticket sales.

Last week, dates in Washington D.C. and Jones Beach, NY were shelved. Prices for the concerts ranged from $42-$250.

Even before its first date, the non-participation of founding member Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong (who replaced the late Florence Ballard ) caused controversy. While Ross was taking home a reported $15-20 million for the tour, Wilson and Birdsong where each offered a reported $3 million. Instead, Ross went out with Scherrie Payne and Lynda Laurence, both of whom joined after Ross' last Supremes tour 30 years ago.

"I know the canceled shows would have been received with the same enthusiasm that we encountered in every city on the tour so far," said Ross in a statement. "We have had fantastic audiences that have been extremely excited about the music and reliving their memories. And that includes ‘The Wiz.'"
