AMPLIFIED CHECKS OUT CHECKOUT.COM

B2B Company Has More Than 15 Items, But Did Pay Cash
Privately held digital content distribution company Amplified has acquired online retailer/entertainment destination CheckOut.com. It will keep the Amplified name and CheckOut's L.A. headquarters. Wherehouse, an equity partner in CheckOut, will take over the music and video sales from the site.

Amplifed provides e-tailers with the tech know-how to offer digital downloads, digital rights management, streaming and other high-tech stuff we don't understand to many Internet retail sites. Additionally, it has deals with EMI, Zomba/Jive and other labels.

Amplified and CheckOut pacted last June to deliver digital music through Amplified's distribution channels. The merged company will combine CheckOut's technology with Amplified's to offer online retailers digital content management, delivery and sales.

Amplified is owned by Valley Media, Bear Stearn's Constellation Ventures, Psilos Group, Chase Capital, Noro-Moseley Partners and its employees.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
