HARRISON TREATED FOR CANCER, AGAIN

Despite Reports Of Radiotherapy For Brain Tumor, Former Beatle Urges Fans Not To Worry
Former Beatle George Harrison tried to ease the concerns of his fans today, after admitting to successfully undergoing radiotherapy at a Swiss cancer clinic. News reports today had broken the story that the 58-year-old guitarist and singer had undergone cancer treatment at the hospital in Bellinzona during May and June.

In a message to fans, Harrison said: "I am feeling fine and I am really sorry for the unnecessary worry which has been caused by the reports appearing in today's press. Please do not worry."

Swiss cancer specialist Franco Cavalli confirmed that he had recently treated Harrison, saying, "Mr. Harrison successfully completed this course more than a month ago and we foresee no need for further treatment here."

On Sunday, the Swiss newspaper Sonntagszeitung reported that Harrison had been treated for a brain tumor at the hospital. In 1998, Harrison overcame throat cancer, which he blamed on smoking. And at the beginning of May this year, Harrison had surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to remove a cancerous growth from one of his lungs.

Harrison has also faced life-threatening, non-cancer-related situations. In late 1999, a knife-wielding intruder broke into his home and stabbed him in the chest.
