MASSEY’S THE MAN FOR SMI A&R

David "Dance This" Massey "Around" has added the title Senior Vice President A&R for Sony Music International to his current responsibilities as Executive Vice President A&R Epic Records Group, according to SMI President Rick "Rub-A-Dub" Dobbis.

Massey will work with SMI subsidiaries worldwide to develop local repertoire, evaluate and identify local talent to cross over to other regions and territories and drink a beer in every country in Europe.

In addition, he will oversee select SME A&R projects on a global basis, reporting to Chairman/CEO Thomas "Schooly" D. Mottola.

Commented Dobbis: "David is a music internationalist. He is attuned to talent—artists, writers, producer, mixers and scouts. His ears and heart hear music that works locally and can break borders. And he knows where the red-light district is in every city."

Massey has been Exec. VP A&R for Epic Records Group since January ‘99. He originally joined Epic Records in 1991 as VP A&R, then served as VP A&R/International Marketing and Exec. VP/GM. Before that, Massey was based in London, where he had a successful artist management company, his own indie label, Big World, and raised a herd of mad cows.
