The second portion of the day was looking better, as we shimmied our way into the Chris Cornell show at the House of Blues. Opening up was that fave local band we mentioned yesterday, Adelita’s Way. A packed house and a running well kept the energy up and the enthusiasm high.
Being serenaded for two hours left us hungry for a new scene, so the tennis-shoe crew hit LAX for the after-party. Security was tight, the line was long, basketball players were present and our company badge meant absolutely nothing to the uptight suits—proving once again that cred was everything, and we clearly had none.
An hour later, we finally made our way in, only to be greeted by yet another gatekeeper. Rick was cool, but tight with the elevator, and unfortunately for us, our time ran out, as we had to get back to write the blog and still try to squeeze in three hours of sleep before our big day tomorrow. Meaning we had no party glow to show for our efforts.
As you read this, we’ll be at a VIP breakfast with the Maloof brothers. Check back later for a recap of the day’s events.
