New U2

ACHTUNG, BABIES: A few months ago, after it was reported elsewhere that the next U2 album would be delayed until 2015, Interscope topper John Janick assured us the album would arrive this year, and now reports are circulating that it could come out as soon as September. In fact, Universal Music Venezuela and Universal Music Colombia briefly posted tweets saying the album was coming out in September, Rolling Stone notes. French newspaper Nice-Matin reported that the group had recently shot a video in Nice, and the Irish Times quoted a source saying there will be a single in September, an album in September or October and a tour announced in December, with dates beginning in April of next year. "It is believed," says the article, via U2 fan site atu2.com, that "the band will release it with little of the fanfare usually associated with a new U2 album." The band has never spent this much time on an album, nor has it worked with nearly as many producers; they are Danger Mouse, will.i.am, David Guetta, RedOne, Ryan Tedder and Paul Epworth, who is said to have helmed the final round of sessions.
