BusinessWeek iHeartRadio Awards Sell Records

iHEART RETAIL: Offering "Proof Music Awards Don't Need a Pedigree to Sell Tunes," a recent BusinessWeek article noted that the iHeartRadio Music Awardsmoved the sales needle for several acts, notably Pharrell, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Ariana Grande, Shakira, Arcade Fire and Thirty Seconds to Mars. "For all the talk about media getting more and more personalized and fragmented–both in TV and in music–it’s noteworthy that a big and untested broadcast event can increase sales," writes the story's author, Eric Chemi. "The power of large brands with big megaphones still matters." Read all about it here. (5/14a)
