Billy Joel residency at MSG

NEW YORK STATE OF MIND: Having already scheduled four shows, all of them sold out, Billy Joel and Madison Square Garden have announced he'll be doing a residency at the storied NYC venue, playing one show a month there "as long as there's demand." A 5/9 date has been added and more are apparently on the way. MSG has unveiled a custom logo for the piano man's appearances. MSG Chairman James Dolan described Joel, who was informed last week that he'd be the subject of a Kennedy Center honor on 12/29, as the Garden's "first music franchise." (12/3a)
