TEA

ANYONE FOR TEA? Not only does Republic hold the top spot in new-release marketshare on the week (see 10/23 item), the high-flying label is also throwing itself a TEA party (you'll pardon the expression). Pearl Jam made a sizable album-sales contribution with 170k, followed by those from the Avett Brothers (59k) and Drake (57k), while Lorde scored a double-double with 47k on Pure Heroine in week two and 256k on “Royals” (see next item), which equates to another 25.6k albums (you just move the decimal point one space to the left—got it?). Four Top 10 albums plus a boatload of singles will get it done most weeks, and this week is no exception—handily illustrating the point of our lead story. (10/24a)
