HEEEEEEERE’S KATY: Last night marked the grand opening of the iHeartRadio Theatre in L.A. with a Katy Perry listening party and performance hosted by Mario Lopez. A couple hundred Katy-Cats and a number of weasels packed the intimate venue, located in the completely renovated former home of The Tonight Show at the Burbank Studios, provided the live audience for a one-hour special celebrating the release of PRISM; it was broadcast live on 200+ Clear Channel stations in the Top 40, Hot AC, AC and Rhythmic formats. The event capped a day during which 95 CC stations were taken over dubbed “Katy Perry Radio” (click here for more on that subject). Clear Channel heavyweights on hand for the inauguration included Bob Pittman, John Hogan, Tom Poleman, Rich Bressler, Alissa Pollack and Marissa Morris, as well as programming SVPs John Ivey, Clay Hunnicutt and Greg Strassell. They joined Capitol’s Greg Thompson and Dennis Reese and manager Bradford Cobb to watch Katy perform six songs intermixed with 45-second snippets from the album. She also fielded questions from fans both on hand and via social media. The whole thing was recorded and will be televised Friday night (10/25) on The CW Network. The next big release party at the venue will be for SYCO/Columbia’s One Direction. (10/23a)
