REFLEKTIVE MATERIAL: Here are some fun facts about “Reflektor,” the locomotive lead single from Arcade Fire’s album of the same name, arriving 10/29 from Merge. James Murphy produced the track, which explains why you may be picking up an echo of LCD Soundsystem in the relentless groove… Yes, that is the voice of David Bowie you hear briefly among the massed backing vocals; we know that because it says so on his Facebook page… The track is seven and a half minutes long—a lotta music for $1.29… It will also exist as a 12-inch vinyl piece credited to The Reflektors with an instrumental version on the B-side… The eerie black-and-white video, which reecently premiered on VEVO, was directed by Anton Corbjin, but we have no idea who created those giant heads. The band has also released an interactive video of the track, which you can play with at justareflektor.com… The band will undoubtedly play “Reflektor” on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Tina Fey, on 9/28.
