Wilco covers "Get Lucky"

WILCO FANS GET LUCKY: Jeff Tweedy led his highly skilled bandmates through a two-and-a-half-hour, 25-song, all-covers set Friday night at the band’s third annual Solid Sound Festival in North Adams, MA. The set rolled through classics and obscurities from Big Star, the Beatles, the Stones, Dylan, Neil Young, Nick Lowe, The Band, Television, Pavement and a bunch more; Yo La Tengo joined them on that band's "Tom Courtenay" as well as the set-ending "Roadrunner" by the Modern Lovers, and Tommy Stinson sat in on the Replacements' "Color Me Impressed." The coolest segue was the Kinks' "Waterloo Sunset" into ABBA's "Waterloo," and Wilco got current with a straightforward but delectable take on Daft Punk's "Get Lucky," which is embedded above. The whole set is supposedly available for downloading in MP3 and FLAC form (with the band's permission) on the nyctaper blog, though it was "temporarily unavailable" every time we tried to grab it over the weekend. Later this summer, Wilco will hit the road on a dream bill with Dylan and My Morning Jacket. (6/24a)
