The Voice premiere week puts showa against X Factor

GOING FOR A KNOCKOUT: The premiere week of The Voice will run for three straight nights, next Monday (9/10) through a just-added episode on Wednesday, NBC announced. The newly added Wednesday episode will go head to head with the premiere of Fox’s The X Factor, which is debuting new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. (See how they did that?) Coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will open season three by joining their voices in a performance of the Rolling Stones’ “Start Me Up.” The competition will begin with the traditional blind audition before heading into the battle round, the brand new knockouts and finally, the live performance shows. “In season three, the DNA of the show is the same, but for the battle rounds, the torso of this format, we need to make a couple tweaks,” host Carson Daly said. “It’s like fantasy football. You become incentivized to watch the entire league as opposed as to your own team.” You’ll find details on the revised setup at The Hollywood Reporter. (9/6a)
