MUSICIANS & MUTTS AGAINST ROMNEY: In a comic (as opposed to cosmic) coincidence, two acts are releasing songs devoted to Mitt Romney’s dog, both timed for the Republican National Convention in Charlotte. Rollingstone.com reports that, on Aug. 25, Devo will release "Don't Roof Rack Me, Bro! (Remember Seamus)," inspired by the Republican candidate's notorious road trip from Massachusetts to Ontario, during which he transported the family dog, Seamus, in a kennel strapped to the roof of his station wagon. In conjunction with the release, band founder and commercial director Gerald V. Casale will launch his Remember Seamus campaign, which is intended to help "make 2012 the year where animals like Seamus are valued and honesty is praised." Devo is also helping to back Dogs Against Romney, with Casale designing a special-edition shirt for the occasion, as well as being involved in the upcoming smartphone game "The Crate Escape: Seamus Unleashed," which hits on Aug. 26, National Dog Day.
