OCEAN SIZE: Red-hot Def Jam/IDJ R&B crooner Frank Ocean’s major label debut, Channel Orange, which is set to debut next week with 110-125k as an iTunes exclusive (see hitsdailydouble.com story here), is also the subject of a front-page L.A. Times story today by pop music critic Randall Roberts here. The article focuses on Ocean’s controversial “coming-out” on his Tumblr blog, and his addressing several love songs on the new album to a man. Wrote Roberts: “With his decision to address lust for another man on his new album, 24-year-old Frank Ocean has become something other than one of the most dynamic R&B singers and songwriters of the last half-decade: He's become, for the moment, one of the first to challenge a genre known for its acidic intolerance of homosexuality.” The album is getting similar rave reviews from everyone who's heard it. Do we hear Grammy momentum starting to build? (7/11p)
