Frank Ccean Making Waves

OCEAN MAKING WAVES: Red-hot avant-R&B singer Frank Ocean, part of the L.A.-based radical rap Odd Future collective, appeared on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show last night and simultaneously Tweeted that his eagerly anticipated Def Jam debut, Channel Orange, was available immediately on iTunes prior to its official July 17 release. Ocean, who caused a controversy last week by blogging that he fell in love with a man as a 19-year-old, performed “Bad Religion” from the album. Ocean’s previous, independently released mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra, proved a critical and commercial success. He also had memorable cameos on Jay Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne album tracks “No Church in the Wild” and “Made in America.” (7/10p)
