Politician Targets Coachella Tax

DESERTING THE DESERT? The annual Coachella music festival will continue to be held in Indio,CA, according to Goldenvoice’s Paul Tollett, after local councilman Sam Torres backed off his proposal to tax up to 10% on tickets to the popular gathering. The politician was hoping to tap the money-maker to solve the city's pressing municipal financial issues, though the threat of losing the festival, which Tollett said he was prepared to move to another venue, was enough to have him recant.
