Van Halen tour dates canceled

DIVER DOWN: More than 30 dates on the Van Halen tour have been canceled—or "temporarily postponed," according to . As this is written on Monday morning, 14 dates remain on sale, including June 1 and June 9 at the Staples Center; the last date listed on van-halen.com is July 26 in New Orleans. An unnamed source told Rolling Stone, which broke the news last Thursday, "The band is arguing like mad. They are fighting." A more troubling possibility is the health of Eddie Van Halen, who recently told Esquire he’d had he had two recurrences of cancer last year. But “anonymous sources close to Van Halen” told the L.A. Times that reports of squabbling are exaggerated. The band, say the sources, is in good health and its members simply realized they took on more dates than they could handle for their advanced ages. The Times wrote that—we didn’t. (5/21a)
