Adele, Alabama Shakes Dominate U.K. Chart

ENGLAND SHAKES: Alabama Shakes’ Boys & Girls debuted at #3 on the U.K. album chart this week, but it was Adele's 21 which grabbed the headlines, back to #1 for a 22nd week, breaking the record of two Beatles albums, With the Beatles and A Hard Day’s Night, both of which spent 21 weeks apiece atop the U.K. chart. Adele returned to the top spot after an absence of seven weeks, helped by a BBC1 TV repeat of her Sept. 2011 concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall on April 5. Lat week's chart-topper, Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, fell to #2. Carly Rae Jepson’s “Call Me Maybe” beat out fellow Canadian Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” for its second week at #1 on the British singles survey. (4/16a)
