Epic Heating Up

REID HIS HITS: Under the new regime headed by L.A. Reid and Mark Shimmel, the suddenly revitalized Epic Records is back on the map. The promo team of Erik Olesen and Jacqueline Saturn is starting to truly gel, with four singles in the Mediabase Top 40, including three new breaking artists in Karmin’s “Broken Hearted,” Chris Rene’s “Young Homie” and Wallpaper’s “F**king Best Song Everrr” alongside fast-breaking J.Lo’s “Dance Again” featuring Pitbull. Considering Reid's history of discovering big acts, this could be the tip of the iceberg as things are starting to heat up at Sony’s other label now, too. (4/2p)
