YOUR WEAKEND BOX OFFICE REVIEW: Sony’s reboot of the ‘80s TV show 21 Jump Street turned into a triumph for its stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, racking up $35m for a per-screen average of $11k. Last week’s box office champ, Universal’s Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, was down 41.3% to $23m and a per-screen of $6k in its third week for a total of $158m, which is a lot of Green Eggs and Ham. Disney’s stumbling big budget flick John Carter was off 55% from its opening week with a take of $13.5m and a two-week total of $53m for a per-screen average of $3.6k. Warner Bros.’ low-budget teen party romp, Project X, earned $4m with a $1,371 per-screen average for a three-week total of $48 million. Rounding out the Top 5 was Paramount/DreamWorks’ Eddie Murphy vehicle, A Thousand Words, down 40% to $3.7 million and a $2k per-screen average for a disappointing two-week total of $12m. (3/19p)
