Bandier Re-Ups at Sony/ATV

BANDIER ON BOARD: Martin Bandier has signed a long-term extension to remain as Chairman/ CEO of Sony/ATV Music on the cusp of joining with his old company EMI Music Publishing to form the world’s largest pubbery. Since joining the company five years ago, Bandier has inked the likes of Lady Gaga, Pitbull and Shakira as well as songwriter/producers like Boi-1Da, Evan Bogart, JR Rotem and RedOne. Said Sony Corp. Chairman/CEO/President Sir Howard Stringer: "Music publishing is an incredibly successful part of our business and with Marty staying on at the helm, Sony/ATV is well-positioned for the years ahead." Last November, an investor group that included Sony Corporation of America and the Estate of Michael Jackson, Mubadala Development Company, Jynwel Capital Limited, the Blackstone Group's GSO Capital Partners LP and David Geffen signed an agreement to acquire EMI Music Publishing, subject to regulatory approval. Bandier headed the company from 1989 until early 2007, and then joined Sony/ATV in March of that year. "Working at Sony/ATV Music Publishing, especially with its talented artists, songwriters and staff has been one of the best highlights of my career," he said. (3/19a)
